Международная организация ООН, учрежденная в 1945 г., основной задачей которой является решение проблем продовольственного обеспечения стран мира. Организация проводит исследования всех аспектов сельскохозяйственного производства, лесоводства и рыболовства, а также разрабатывает планы развития технологической базы. Кроме этого, организация занимается сбором, анализом, оценкой и распространением информации о состоянии мирового сельскохозяйственного производства, разрабатывает продовольственные нормативы с целью защиты потребителей, стимулирует ивестиции в развитие сельских районов и т.д.
